Introduction To Survey

We are conducting a survey to help find out the best server-side language for our extended project.

The project is to create a web site that handles students entering data on their a-levels and activities outside college. The data then needs to be confirmed by a tutor, stored and accessed at a later date. The data may also be needed to create many different certificates that need to be printed. Due to costs the language must also be compatible with a Linux server operating system.

If you have experience with server side scripting, then could you help us by answering a few questions to determine the best language to do the job.

The criteria for a good programming language is:
Easy to program;
High functionality;
Speed;
Ease of use for the end user (students and tutors);
Support availability;
